What is Desmos and Why should we use it?

  • Desmos is the next generation of graphing calculator: in-browser, beautiful, and free!
  • Materials for courses including required textbooks or software for computerized homework already cost upwards of $100 per student.
  • Why spend $100 more on obsolete technology?
  • Desmos is available as an in-browser app as well as an app for portable devices including phones and tablets.

What about internet connectivity issues?

  • Desmos app does not require internet to run basic graphing functionality:
    • generating graphs
    • generating tables of data
    • tracing points along graphs
    • finding points of interest (intersections/intercepts, min/max)
    • moving and zooming around the window

What about standardized testing and common assessments?

  • Desmos Test Mode free app may be utilized for testing environments!
  • Some schools have already started using Desmos for in-class testing.
  • A pilot was launched last year using Desmos during state-mandated standardized testing!
