What?
What can Desmos do?
What about all of our curriculum?
We have been teaching students about finding maximums, intercepts, and intersections.
For years we used these tools buried within familiar (but cryptic) menu systems in graphing calculators.
What will we do now?

What Can Graphing Calculators Do?
- Graph explicit rectangular equations in the form \(y=x's\)
- Graph explicit polar equations in the form \(r =\theta's\)
- Graph parametric equations
- Generate tables of values for these same equations
- Trace points along a curve
- Find minimums, maximums, intercepts, and points of intersection
- Adjust the viewing window and the scale on both axes
- Adjust settings to accept degrees or radians
- Input numerous special functions such as trigonometric, logarithmic, powers and roots hyperbolic, and more
- Implement statistical functions including regressions
- Evaluate numeric derivatives and integrals
- Visualize inequalities including number line and integral shading

What Can Desmos Do?
- Desmos can do everything above, and more!
- Graph implicit equations such as \(x^2 + y^2 = 5\) and \(r\theta = \theta^2 \).
- Include variables such as \(y=mx+b\) with \(m\) and \(b\) as sliders.
- Restrict domain or range on any graph.
- Define functions with function notation, such as \(f(x)\) and \(g(x)\) and reuse in function combination such as \(f(x)+g(x)\) and \(f(g(x))\)
- Include folders to organize equations and upload images on graph
- Add a text-based 'note' in the sidebar
- Upload images into your graphing window
- Convert any equation into a table of values
- Graph other special functions including summations, derivatives, definite integrals, modulus, floor, ceiling, etc.
- Smart equation input which automatically detects fractions, powers, subscripts, etc.
- Equation editor accepts LaTeX formatting:
- LaTeX code may be pasted in directly
- Equations copied from editor are pasted in LaTeX format.
- Visualize selected three-dimensional graphs using parametric equations. More 3D coming soon!
- Available on multiple platforms including in-browser web-app, app for tablets, smartphones or other portable electronics.
- Activity Builder available to easily create classroom activities!
- Graphs may be easily saved, shared, linked to, and embedded into webpages.
- FREE for students and teachers!
- Fast/Responsive online help available for all users!
